Eddie Jones has recalled Kyle Sinckler for England’s autumn internationals but there is no place in the squad for Henry Slade.
Jack Willis is the sole player included from Wasps as the club look set to go into administration. Of the six uncapped players in the group, Harlequins winger Cadan Murley makes the cut for the first time.
England have a lengthy injury list with Alfie Barbeary, Ollie Chessum, Nic Dolly, Alex Dombrandt, Charlie Ewels, Tommy Freeman, George Ford, Jamie George, Sam Jeffries, Nick Isiekwe, Harry Randall, Will Stuart, Sam Underhill and Jack Walker all absent.
Stuart was injured in Bath’s Premiership defeat to Saracens at the weekend, but Sinckler returns after missing the summer tour with a back injury. He was omitted from the previous England training squad which met earlier in October, but returns to bolster the tight-head options.
England play four matches in the autumn series with Argentina, Japan, New Zealand and South Africa all lying in wait.
The 36-man squad includes uncapped players Alex Coles, George McGuigan, Val Rapava Ruskin, David Ribbans, Hugh Tizard and Murley.
“This is a very strong, vibrant squad and a number of good players have been left out. We are pleased with the depth and the strength of the squad,” Jones said.
“The autumn internationals will be like a mini Rugby World Cup for us, starting with two tough games against Argentina and Japan which mirrors our Pool fixtures at next year’s tournament.
“Then we’ll have knockout type games against New Zealand and South Africa — all four games will be great tests for us.”
England have also announced Danny Kerry has joined the group as training coordinator. He spent 17 years with Great Britain hockey which included leading Team GB’s women’s team to gold at Rio 2016.
“I’ve known Danny for a long time and his depth and breadth of coaching knowledge will be a real asset to us as staff as we work towards becoming the best coaching team in the world,” Jones said.
