May back in England squad for Argentina Test

England will be without Courtney Lawes for their Test match against Argentina on Sunday, but have Jonny May back in the mix just two weeks after he suffered a dislocated elbow.

May’s injury was expected to keep him out of England’s autumn series, but the winger has made a rapid recovery. He was named in Eddie Jones’ 36-man squad on Monday, and is being integrated back into training.

The match on Sunday might come too soon for May but it is a huge boost for Jones with Japan, New Zealand and South Africa completing the four-Test line up for the autumn.

But England will be without Lawes, who was in line to captain the team. He is still recovering from a head injury suffered six weeks ago and is undergoing the return to play protocols.

Owen Farrell is named in the squad having missed England’s training trip to Jersey last week with concussion.

With England already nursing an extensive injury list, Lewis Ludlam is also ruled out of their Test with the Pumas taking the tally to 18 players on the sidelines.
