Wolves’ Gobert in health and safety protocols

NBA

Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert has entered the NBA’s health and safety protocols and will miss the team’s Saturday night game against the Houston Rockets.

In his first season with the Wolves, Gobert is averaging 12.6 points and a league-best 13.9 rebounds.

A three-time All-Star and three-time Defensive Player of the Year, Gobert was traded to Minnesota this offseason by Utah in a deal that sent five players and four first-round picks back to the Jazz.

Gobert has twice tested positive for COVID-19 — in January of this year and in March 2020, when he became the first NBA player to test positive for the coronavirus.
