The third time is apparently the charm for Jake Paul and Tommy Fury.
Paul, the YouTube star-turned-prizefighter, and Fury have agreed to fight Feb. 25 in Saudi Arabia, sources confirmed to ESPN’s Mike Coppinger on Tuesday. This is the third time the two have booked a fight with one another, though they have still not gotten into the ring together.
Sources said further details about the specific venue, broadcast distribution and the number of rounds are expected to be announced later this week. Inside Fighting was the first to report the news of the fight agreement.
Fury withdrew from a scheduled bout with Paul in December 2021 because of an illness. The bout was rebooked for August 2022, but Paul’s team pulled the plug because of Fury’s travel issues coming into the U.S. Fury is the younger brother of heavyweight great Tyson Fury and a popular reality show star in the United Kingdom.
Jake Paul, 26, is 6-0 in pro boxing and coming off a unanimous-decision win over MMA legend Anderson Silva in October. He has knocked out former UFC champion Tyron Woodley, former MMA champ Ben Askren and ex-NBA veteran Nate Robinson.
One of the main criticisms of Paul is that he hasn’t fought anyone with real pro boxing experience. Fury, 23, would be the most experienced boxer Paul has faced. He’s 8-0 as a pro, coming off a decision win over Daniel Bocianski last April.
