Sinner leads Italy to 1st Davis Cup title since 1976

MALAGA, Spain — Italy won the Davis Cup title for the second time by beating Australia 2-0 in Sunday’s final.

After Matteo Arnaldi outlasted Alexei Popyrin in the first singles clash, Italy No. 1 Jannik Sinner sealed the title with an easy 6-3, 6-0 win over Alex De Minaur.

Italy’s only other title in the elite men’s team competition was in 1976.
