Jets cut RB Cook to allow him to join contender

The New York Jets are waiving running back Dalvin Cook, his representatives at the Sports & Entertainment Agency told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Cook, 28, is restructuring his deal to forfeit remaining guaranteed money, a source told Schefter.

He will go through waivers and be available to be claimed by the 31 other teams. If he goes unclaimed, he will become an unrestricted free agent.

Cook signed with the Jets after being released before the season by the Minnesota Vikings but has been a nonfactor for the team, rushing for just 214 yards and no touchdowns in 15 games. He also has 15 receptions for 78 yards.
