Yashasvi Jaiswal’s rise in Indian cricket has been incredible© Instagram
The rise of youn opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal has been nothing short of a spectacle. Only 7 matches old into his Test career, Jaiswal struck his second double hundred as India defeated England in the third Test of the 5-match series in Rajkot. The young batter has all but cemented his place in the Test team and is also an important member of the squad in ODIs and T20Is. Seeing the young lad start to make waves in the Indian team, his father couldn’t be happier. But, what’s the diet secret to Jaiswal’s success?
In a chat with India Today, Jaiswal’s father Bhupendra shared a list of delicacies his son likes to savor on. On the top of the list is mutton.
“He is very fond of mutton, and he likes rice, daal, breads and curry,” Jaiswal’s father said.
Yashasvi has a long range of shots that he can play, but one of the shots that his father particularly enjoys watching is the sweep shot.
“He plays the sweep shot beautifully, and he works a lot on it,” his father said.
In the match against England at Rajkot, Jaiswal hit a ‘record-equalling’ 12 sixes in the second innings. In the process, he matched Wasim Akram‘s record of hitting the most number of maximums in a single Test innings.
In the series, Jaiswal has struck a total of 20 sixes so far, a feat that no other player in the world has been able to achieve. But, Jaiswal’s father wants his son to shatter more records.
“I want him to create his own records and should not focus on the records others made,” Jaiswal’s father asserted.
The young lad would be keen to add to his exemplary run-scoring form in the remaining two matches of the series. The 4th Test is scheduled to begin on February 23.
