MLB

New York Yankees infielder Oswald Peraza will start the season on the injured list and could miss the next 6-8 weeks with a right shoulder strain.

Peraza, 23, already has missed time with the injury this spring. He returned for two games before further shoulder damage was diagnosed after an MRI.

Peraza, who plays second base, third base and shortstop, made his major league debut in 2022 and batted .306 with one home run and two RBIs in 18 games. He batted just .191 last season with two home runs and 14 RBIs in 52 games last season.
