Mayank Yadav, Riyan Parag In, No Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant In T20 World Cup Squad By 6-Time IPL Winner

Amid the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), India captain Rohit Sharma is expected to meet the BCCI selectors later this week to discuss the squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. ICC have set May 1 as the deadline for squad submission for the participating teams. As the deadline for the selection of India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad nears, several experts have shared their views on the same. Former India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Ambati Rayudu has also picked his 15-man probables for the World Cup.

Star all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who has been under the scanner for his performance in the ongoing season of  IPL, is one of the notable absentees from Rayudu’s 15-man squad.

Hardik is leading MI for the first time this season, having replaced Rohit Sharma as captain, but his captaincy and performance have been below-par to say the least.

While it has been reported that the BCCI is unlikely to pick any new IPL performer, Rayudu included the likes of LSG tearaway pacer Mayank Yadav and Rajasthan Royals all-rounder Riyan Parag in his predicted squad.

Mayank, after a remarkable start to his IPL career, has been backed by many to feature in the upcoming T20 World Cup in Americas, starting June 2.

While there weren’t any surprises in the batting department with Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli and Suryakumar making up the top four, Rayudu omitted the likes of Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul and Sanju Samson for the keeper’s role.

He instead chose veteran Dinesh Karthik to keep the wickets. Karthik is enjoying one of his finest seasons with the bat, despite his franchise RCB lying in the bottom place in the points table.

In the bowling department, Rayudu went with the combination of three spinners and four pacers.

Ambati Rayudu’s India squad for T20 World Cup 2024:

Rohit Sharma (C), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Dinesh Karthik, Rinku Singh, Shivam Dube, Riyan Parag, Ravindra Jadeja, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mayank Yadav, Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Siraj.
