Oregon lands four-star athlete Brew for 2025

A hot recruiting week for Dan Lanning and Oregon continued when four-star athlete Dorian Brew, No. 45 in the 2025 ESPN 300, announced his commitment to the Ducks on Saturday afternoon.

Brew, who is expected to play cornerback at the next level, confirmed the news in a post on X.

With a pledge from the ninth-ranked prospect in the state of Texas, Oregon is now up to five commitments this week. Brew arrives as the latest boost in a recruiting class that has nearly doubled since Monday, joining fellow ESPN 300 commits Jordon Davison (No. 5 running back in 2025), athlete Brandon Finney (No. 7 ATH), tight end DaSaahn Brame (No. 3 TE-Y) and defensive tackle Josiah Sharma among the newcomers to Lanning’s 22nd-ranked 2025 class.

Brew, a standout at Texas’ Conroe High School, is the fifth-ranked athlete in 2025, per ESPN rankings. His commitment follows an official visit to Oregon earlier this month, and Brew picked the Ducks over Texas and Ohio State after visits to both schools, as well as USC and LSU, earlier this spring. He began his career at Northmont Senior High School in Clayton, Ohio.

Along with football, Brew competes in track and field, and the latest prospect headed to the school that helped birth Nike is the son of a pair of sprinters. Brew’s father Derrick ran at LSU and later earned two medals — including gold in the 4×400 relay — at the 2004 Summer Olympics. Brew’s mother Donica Merriman was a sprinter at Ohio State and is a member of the school’s athletics Hall of Fame.

With his pledge, Brew becomes the second-highest rated member of the Ducks’ 2025 class, behind only four-star wide receiver Dallas Wilson (No. 33 in the ESPN 300). Lanning’s upcoming class now includes nine ESPN 300 commits, including quarterback Akili Smith Jr. (No. 9 pocket passer in 2025), outside linebacker Nasir Wyatt (No. 11 OLB) and athlete Dierre Hill (No. 8 ATH).
