Wrexham move joint-top of League 1 after 2-0 win

Football

Wrexham continued their positive start to League 1 with a 2-0 victory away to Peterborough on Saturday that left them joint-top with Stockport and Birmingham City after four matches.

A pair of first-half goals from Jack Marriott and Max Cleworth helped the side to a comfortable victory — their third of the season so far which also maintained their unbeaten start.

Paul Mullin and Steven Fletcher came off the bench in the second half, and Mullin nearly scored from his first touch with a well-hit volley.

It marks another solid step after two straight promotions from the National League to the third tier of English Football as co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney dream of one day reaching the Premier League.

Wrexham are already out of the Carabao Cup after a tough matchup against Sheffield United ended in a 4-2 defeat.
