Clippers’ George tests positive, to miss play-in

NBA

LA Clippers star Paul George has entered health and safety protocols after testing positive for COVID-19 and will miss Friday night’s play-in game against the New Orleans Pelicans, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Tim Bontemps.

The winner of Friday’s game earns the No. 8 seed and a first-round meeting with the NBA-leading Phoenix Suns. The Clippers lost to the Suns in six games in last year’s conference finals.

George recently returned to the court after suffering a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his shooting elbow in December. He is averaging 24.3 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.7 assists in 31 games this season.
