India, Australia Cricketers Pay Tribute To Odisha Train Crash Victims Ahead Of WTC Final With Special Gesture

The World Test Championship final between Indian cricket team and Australian cricket team is underway.  Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to field first in the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia at the Oval in London on Wednesday. Ahead of the game, as the two sides lined up for their national anthems, they observed a moment’s of silence for the victims of the recent Odisha train crash. The Coromandel Express crashed into a goods train, derailing most of its coaches at 7 pm on June 2. In all, over 270 people died in the accident and more than 1,200 were injured. A few coaches of Coromandel toppled over the last few coaches of the Bengaluru-Howrah Express which was passing by at the same time.

The game could India’s their legacy and the prowess they have gained in the recent time as they made their way into the World Test Championship 2023 final by defying the odds. After the toss, Rohit Sharma said, “We are going to bowl. The conditions and also the weather being overcast. The pitch won’t change too much. Four seamers and one spinner. The spinner is Jadeja. Pat Cummins also said, “We would have bowled as well. Hopefully day four and five, there’s a bit of spin. You think it suits his bowling, he’ll be a key weapon. We’ve been here for about 10 days. Pretty fresh, weather has been nice, we haven’t missed a session.”
