Fly-half George Ford is in contention to play for England against New Zealand on Saturday after being added to Steve Borthwick’s 36-man squad.

Ford had to prove his fitness after tearing his quad while playing in the Gallagher Premiership for Sale Sharks, but he has now been named ahead of the first autumn Test at Allianz Stadium Twickenham.

Ford, who missed the summer tour to Japan and New Zealand, will bring 96 caps worth of experience for England in the No. 10 jersey.

Lock Alex Coles and flanker Ted Hill have also been added to the squad, while Tom Roebuck, Charlie Ewels and Ollie Chessum have been released.

Chessum suffered a knee injury while in camp and Ewels is following return-to-play protocols.

After the All Blacks on Saturday, England will host Australia, South Africa and Japan in November.
