American micro-blogging and social networking platform Twitter restored the verified blue tick on former Indian cricket team captain MS Dhoni‘s account after briefly removing it earlier on Friday. Dhoni last tweeted on January 8, 2021. ANI tried to contact Twitter to ascertain the reason behind the removal and is still awaiting reply. The blue tick on a Twitter handle is to let people know that the social media account is authentic. It said to receive the blue badge, the person’s account must be authentic, notable, and active.

According to Twitter’s regulations, lack of activity for a prolonged period could lead to a verified account losing its blue tick.

Having retired from international cricket on August 15, 2020, Dhoni now only plays in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and will be back in action when the UAE leg of IPL resumes in September. He last played for India in the 2019 World Cup semifinal loss to New Zealand.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the schedule for the remainder of IPL. A total of 31 matches will be played in the duration of 27 days.
